Project 43

Hollow-core slabs were the obvious choice for Thabane Ngobane’s building project. He knew that they provided the quickest method of constructing a suspended slab of a superior quality. In this way, Ngobane would be able to mitigate the risk of delays and cost overruns, while also ensuring a quality final structure without defects.
However, he was adamant that Coreslab undertake the design, manufacture and installation of the suspended slab. This is considering the company’s impressive track-record completing projects on time and according to the required quality. Moreover, the company is known for working well with homebuilders’ professional teams.

“The service that I received from Coreslab was nothing short of excellent. Johan Muller and his team did not disappoint. It, therefore, does not surprise me that the company has earned such a strong reputation for being the first point of contact for hollow-core slabs and other precast-concrete solutions,” Ngobane says.
Muller says, “With the suspended slab in place, Ngobane’s building team was able to continue constructing the rest of the structure without delay. The hollow-core slabs were transported to site and installed in a fraction of the time that it would have taken to construct a suspended slab of similar size and quality using traditional methods. Ngobane definitely did his ‘homework’ before embarking on his project. I have to agree with him that hollow-core slabs certainly do set the benchmark in the construction of suspended slabs for houses and buildings with more than one level.”
