Sam Matje, a seasoned property developer, is expanding his bed and breakfast business. He has already built four houses in Limpopo and two of these are guesthouses. Matje has used hollow-core slabs on all of these developments. “Hollow-core slabs have been so effective every time that I have had no need to try other methods of constructing suspended slabs. Shortly after the quality suspended slab was in place, the building contractor could proceed with the brick work at the next level, drastically reducing construction time. There was also no waste due to having to redo work,” Muller says.
