Oribi Construction Services and Coreslab have already collaborated on five school construction projects. Coreslab is Oribi Construction’s preferred supplier of hollow-core slabs. This is considering the company’s extensive skills and experience in precast concrete. Coreslab designs, manufactures and installs suspended slabs and they are certified by the company’s team of engineers. “Coreslab’s workmanship carries a warranty. We, therefore, know that the quality of our hollow-core slabs will always be up to standard,” Jan Ras Van der Westhuizen of Oribi Construction Services, says.
Moreover, Coreslab always honours its commitments to Oribi Construction Services. The company has never missed a deadline for the building contractor. This facilitates the timely completion of building projects for its client.
Van der Westhuizen says that the company uses hollow-core slabs because they are the fastest method of constructing a quality suspended slab. This mitigates delays and cost-overruns. The company commences working on the next level of the school buildings the day after the suspended slabs have been installed.
However, on this latest project for Oribi Construction Services, our hollow-core slabs were used for benches for a grandstand at the back of the new school hall. Hollow-core slabs once again provided the fastest, most cost-effective and precise way of constructing concrete slabs for this application compared to other methods.
Undertaken at a private school in Polokwane, the entire project, spanning the design, manufacture and installation of the hollow-core sabs through to the certification of the suspended slabs, was managed by Coreslab’s Johan Muller.
“It is always a pleasure working with a skilled and experienced principal contractor, such as Oribi Construction Services which is building a solid reputation for the very high quality of its educational infrastructure among leading private education providers. We’re proud to be part of the company’s strong supply chain,” Muller says.
